Curious how 4th of July drives cannabis sales? Take a quick peek at last year’s data! When we compare sales from Thursday July 2nd through Saturday July 4th to the previous four weeks in 2020, we saw that total cannabis sales in California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington increased by 3.4%. Nevada saw the largest increase with 24% growth, while the California market shrank slightly over the holiday weekend with -1.8% growth. Beverages were the most successful category with 16% sales growth. Within the Beverage category, 'Water', 'Drops, Mixes, Elixirs, and Syrups', and 'Carbonated' product segments all had about +20% sales growth. On the other hand, the Capsule category (-3.2% growth) and Topicals (-5.5% growth), shrank over the holiday. Is the data going to be similar this year? Stay tuned to find out!

The average size (in sales $) of a retail basket in the most recently completed month.

Median Store SKU Counts

The number of distinct SKUs sold in the median store in the most recently completed month. Median was used instead of an average to remove the effects of outlier stores.

MOM LSSG

Median store Like-Store-Sales-Growth MoM - The month over month growth in sales for the median sample store (for example, January 2022 vs. December 2021). “Like stores” are filtered to exclude any newly opened stores or recently disconnected stores.
