Data Engineer
About the Data Engineering Role:
Headset is seeking a Data Engineer to join our data team as we continue to develop and support new products. The ideal candidate will use their passion for big data to acquire and process data to serve the needs of our data scientists and analysts. They will be primarily responsible for our bug triage process, ensuring stability of our data pipeline, and supporting a new product enhancements. In a typical week you can expect to be writing SQL to expand and optimize our data and data pipeline architecture (using Snowflake & dbt), supporting operations by triaging bugs (Azure DevOps) and improving our monitoring systems (Python, Looker), and work cross-functionally on new product releases.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years in data analysis and data engineering
- BS in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, or similar field or equivalent practical experience
- Ability to take ownership of a project and see it through to completion
- Expertise in cloud data pipelines and modern data warehouses
- Dream in SQL - If you don't know the difference between a where clause and a having clause, you need not apply
- Excel (formulas, vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Looker & LookML experience
- dbt
- git/github
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create clean, transformed data sets that are ready for analysis or ingestion by Looker
- Optimize complex queries in Snowflake and Looker
- Organize data projects using version controlling, testing, and continuous integration as well as consistently documenting and communicating changes
- Create monitoring processes so that we can be alerted to data problems before our end-users alert us
- Support operations by owning our bug triage process
