Overview
Vapor Pens are where the next generation shows up. Gen Z drives 32% of category dollars, the highest share of any cannabis category and nearly double their pull in Flower, while Baby Boomers account for under 7%. That is the mirror image of Topicals and Capsules, where Gen Z barely cracks 8%. The category ranks second in the US and third in Canada, with STIIIZY the single largest brand. As a younger, device-native cohort keeps entering the market, this is the category best positioned to grow with them.
Vapor Pens average about $22 per item across Headset’s US markets over the past year, below Flower’s blended average but above most Edibles. As with flower, the equivalized price tells the real story. A half-gram cartridge works out to roughly $46 per gram, a full gram to about $20 per gram, and a two-gram format to about $16 per gram, so the more oil you buy at once, the less you pay per gram.
Average prices have edged down about 2% year over year as full-gram distillate carts get cheaper and competition intensifies. Premium live-resin and all-in-one disposable formats still command a clear premium over basic distillate, keeping a wide spread between the low and high end of the category.
How much does a weed vape pen cost?
Across Headset’s US markets, vapor pen products average about $22 each over the past year. Full-gram cartridges and all-in-one disposables typically cost more, while half-gram distillate carts run less.
How much is a dab pen?
The cannabis cartridges and disposables themselves average about $22 in our markets. The reusable battery or device is hardware, sold separately and outside Headset’s sales data.
Why are some carts so much cheaper than others?
Price tracks size and input: half-gram distillate sits at the low end, while full-gram, live-resin, and disposable formats command a premium.
