New in Headset Insights: A Comprehensive View of Your Markets, Down to the Retailer
Headset Insights shows brands how their products, categories, and competitors perform across every major market. Now it goes further, down to the retailer. Menu Presence is included in Insights at no extra cost, in each state you subscribe to.
For the first time, Insights shows brands verified retailer sales alongside what is happening across the retailers in their markets: who carries their competitors, and how they are priced. Menu Presence covers stores with an online menu.
Why a complete view matters
Picture the week before a buyer meeting. You know how your brand sold last quarter. What you can't see is which retailers carry your closest competitor, or how their price compares with yours.
Brands rarely have a complete view of their retailers and the market. Tools built on menu data show what is listed and at what price, but not the verified sales behind it. Sales data shows how a brand performed, but not who carries its competitors or how it is priced against the market. Decisions made on one view alone leave brands guessing.
Two sources, one place
Headset now brings both together. Point-of-sale data, built on more than 1.9 billion cannabis sales receipts and more than $100 billion in sales captured, shows what actually sold. Menu Presence, built from online menus that Headset collects and refreshes daily, shows where products are sold, at what price, and how a brand's presence compares with its competitors'. In plain terms, sales show what happened, and menus show what retailers list and charge. That is decision intelligence: a comprehensive view of the market that brands can base decisions on.
"Menu data alone doesn't show brands the complete market," said Cy Scott, Co-founder and CEO of Headset. "It shows what is listed, but not what sold. With Menu Presence in Insights, brands can see which retailers carry them and their competitors, and how they are priced against the market, right next to the verified sales behind it. That is the complete picture brands need to decide where to grow and where to defend with confidence."
What Menu Presence shows
Open Brand Details and you'll see a new tab, Menu Presence, next to Sales. Sales stays where you left it. Pick any brand, yours or a competitor's, then slice by state, category, and package size. In Menu Presence, you can:
- See which retailers and MSOs carry the brand, store by store, with items on menus and the share on sale
- See the brand's penetration state by state, and an estimated daily sales map by store
- See its average rank in each store's category
- Check its listed price against the market by category, package size, and state
- Drill into stores for estimated daily sales and inventory on hand, and download the data
What brands can do with it
- Walk into a buyer meeting prepared. Know how that retailer carries your brand and your competitors', where you rank in its category, and how your listed price compares with the market.
- See where a competitor is strong. Look at retailers, MSOs, and states, and where it overlaps with you.
- Check pricing for a specific package size, such as a 100 milligram edible, state by state.
- Gauge promotion pressure by seeing what share of a brand's items on menus is on sale.
Questions brands can ask
