To celebrate 7/10, we’ve developed a “dab of data”, or rather a brief overview that looks into the wonderful world of concentrates. To start, we review the various types of dabs and then dig into average price points for popular brands, while highlighting a couple of noteworthy dab brands concentrate connoisseurs will most definitely know of. Happy dabbing, everyone!

What are cannabis concentrates and how are they made?

There are many different types of cannabis concentrates, but here are a few popular types that are used for dabbing.

Flan

Flan is a solvent-less cannabis extract “Super Concentrate”, made from refined live hash rosin. It is made using advanced mechanical separation techniques (AMST), and held to the highest purification standards for potency, flavor, color, consistency, and overall effect.

Budder/Badder

This is one of the consistencies for cannabis concentrates. Unlike shatters, badder is malleable, and the way it looks and the consistency of the product varies depending on the method used for its extraction. Cannabis budder is one of the easiest consistencies of cannabis concentrate to dab. Badder or budder is extracted with solvents such as butane or propane, or solvent-less.

Live Rosin

Live Rosin is extracted from plant matter using a combination of heat and pressure. By using this method, producers can instantaneously extract a potent resinous sap from their dried plant matter, hash, or kief. This thick, gooey, full-melt hash oil extrudes from the plant matter without requiring any additional cleaning or removal of chemicals. This cannabinoid and terpene-rich, full-melt hash oil boasts a high THC percentage as well as a robust flavor profile

Honey Crystal

Honey Crystal is a fully dewaxed and winterized product, meaning that the naturally occurring fats, waxes, and other botanical impurities are removed from the essential oil. The removal of the impurities at a low temperature allows the flavor to come out clearly, while hitting smoother than other extracts. Since much of the impurities have been removed, total cannabinoid potency also increases.
